Here is a happy mother/daughter reunion after three weeks apart. I had an incredible experience at the HKS, but I was sure glad when Chris and Helen joined me in Boston.

We spent Friday afternoon cruising around the Harvard campus with family. In this photo we are standing in front of Memorial Hall. I did finally get around to using my “temporary student i.d.” to access the Widener Library which, like the rest of the campus, was quite impressive.

In my three weeks in Cambridge I totally fell in love with this side of the Charles River. Per a recommendation from a classmate, we headed to the Cambridge dance party in front of City Hall on Friday evening. There were plenty of Michael Jackson songs to honor our favorite 80’s icon.

It wasn’t just dancing though...
Thanks to a Frisbee, sidewalk chalk and an abundance of beads, this was a very kid-friendly evening.
We ended the night with a lovely dinner at “Central Kitchen” near Central Square and then took the red line back home.

Make way for Ducklings! After years of reading this Boston classic, we finally made our way to the public garden for a cruise around the lagoon. There are only two real swans that currently inhabit the garden, but there were plenty of mallards that call it home. Helen was disappointed that we had no peanuts to share, and she would have loved to find Michael the policeman. However, we did see park rangers on horseback which may have been even more exciting.

After the swan boat ride, we saw the public sculpture honoring Mrs. Mallard and her eight offspring. As you can see, we had overcast skies the entire day. We are all slowly coming to grips with this June being Boston’s coldest and wettest since 1903!

Whirlwind summer travels... First there was the family trip to D.C., then Chris flew to Boston for Grandma Kay's funeral, and now I'm off to Boston for a 3-week class at the the Kennedy School. I wouldn't expect much from Daddy Blogger, but you never know! Until then, may all of our days be as fun as the CYS picnic.
